Can I Get a Tax Receipt with That?

Technology is changing the way charities operate and donations of emerging technologies are increasing.

This breakfast discussion will bring you up to date on the latest Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) donation rules around technology donations and what to look out for in the future!

Worry no more! Here is an understandable and comprehensive session that will leave you with the tools to be able to decide what donations (cash & gift in kind) can be receipted, for how much and what documentation is required by CRA!

Session will include a resource workbook that will lead you in the following areas:
- Questions every fundraiser should ask when accepting a donation
- Review of the latest CRA rules 
- Includes a review of the CRA publications related to charitable tax receipting
- Difference between straight donation, split receipting (where there is a part advantage going back to the donor), sponsorship and advertising.
- Gifts in kind procedures; products, services, equipment, artwork, inventory, etc.

About the Speaker

Audrey Kotelniski CMA CPA MBA (Marketing)
Audrey has a unique combination of accounting, management, communication, and fundraising education and experiences - that she uses to increase the impact and efficiency of organizations. She has been a Certified Management Accountant since 2000 and has over 25 years of solid experience in both industry and not-for-profit environments. 

Her work experience includes significant experience at the University of Alberta, the ATCO Group of Companies, WCB Alberta and several other small - medium size organizations & charities.

In her role as the Manager, Charitable Accounting & Reporting in External Relations at the University of Alberta, the team processed over $100 million dollars of gifts. Her responsibilities included managing the gift processing unit, donor files and related document imaging, and overall budgeting and forecasting for the larger Development Office. 

Her passion for communicating complex financial issues to operational managers has worked towards bridging the gap between operations and finance. She is dedicated to refining her communication and public relation skills to compliment her management accounting pursuits.

Audrey has been an active member of several organizations including: AFP Edmonton and Area Chapter (Association of Fundraising Professionals), AFP Teaching Faculty for the AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course, ECVO (Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations), CAPS (Canadian Association of Professional Speakers) and Toastmasters. She has presented at several conferences and seminars including the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education National Conference, Anderson Career Training Institute, and at the Tecnologico de Monterrey Tampico, Mexico.

Audrey has established a Management Consulting firm, Creative Success Solutions Ltd. which is dedicated to creating increased potential in individuals, groups and organizations.
