Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Fund Development leads the fund development and fund raising activities of GSS. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of innovative strategies that distinguish GSS in the sponsorship and philanthropy marketplace. The Director, Fund Development will also play an integral role in cultivating donor relationships and will be actively engaged in the community.

Educational and other Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree with a concentration in an area such as commerce, business administration, marketing, public relations or not-for-profit management.
- A related master's degree is preferred
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset.

Work Experience
- Significant and direct experience in several aspects of fund development with a priority on annual fund planning, major gifts and capital campaigns.
- Experienced in face-to-face donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with internal and external customers in a diplomatic, compassionate and professional manner.
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
- Strong donor relation skills which include the ability to identify and cultivate new donors, maintaining positive relationships with current donors and building relationships for legacy donors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation governing charitable organizations including Canada Customs and Revenue legislations.
- Extensive knowledge, skills and abilities with respect to Grant approval process including accountabilities required by various governing bodies.
- Event planning experience.

Requirements
- A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Candidates will be required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 in compliance with the organization’s policy and public health orders.
- A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
